Items You Should Not Pack on a Moving Truck

Our team at Marcus Allard Truck Rental understands that there are so many things to consider, plan for and anticipate when you are moving! It can be a very overwhelming process, from packing to transporting your belongings to your new place.

Here we take a look at what you should not pack into a moving box truck rental:

Chemicals: If you have old paint colors that you are hoping to put into place at your new place, make sure to pack them up in your own personal vehicle. Paint cans should not get packed into a moving truck. Cleansers that contain bleach or ammonia are also off-limits on your box truck packing list. Other chemicals to keep out of the back of your box truck: pesticides, nail polish removed, lighter fluid, aerosols, oil or gas. Any of these can be dangerous and are against federal laws about shipping hazardous materials.

Weapons: Do not pack up any ammunition or guns into your moving boxes. These should be secured safely in your lockbox or on your person for traveling in your personal vehicle or while you are driving in the cab of your box truck. Any hunting items should also not be placed in your moving boxes.

Valuables: No matter if you have something that is worth money or is sentimental, it is best to keep it out of your moving boxes and have it stowed safely with you, a family member or a friend. You do not want to lose track of any of your valuable items in boxes in the back of your moving truck.

Identification: Your family’s important papers, such as your social security cards, banking documents, checkbook, marriage licenses, passports, drivers licenses, investment portfolio and more, should be secured together and kept with you or your family member at all times.
