Rental Vehicle Etiquette

July 07, 2020, 7:43

Renting a vehicle is an excellent choice. It’s often a cost-effective solution for all kinds of transportation needs, including moving, mass transport, and more. However, if you’ve never rented a vehicle before, you may wonder what to do during your rental period. Here are a few ways to ensure your rental vehicle stays in great quality. If you have any questions, be sure to contact our staff at Marcus Allard Truck Rental!

Know the Age Limitations

In order to rent one of our vehicles, you must have a valid license and be at least 21 years old. That means if you are under 21, you cannot drive our rental vehicles even if you have a license. This rule is done in accordance with our insurance policy, so we cannot make any exceptions. That being said, if you would like to rent a vehicle between additional drivers, that is perfectly fine! There’s an additional fee, but as long as the other drivers fulfill our age requirements, you’re good to go.

Book Ahead of Time

No matter why you need our rental trucks, preparation is always the answer. While we reserve and respond to requests in a timely manner, we cannot guarantee your vehicle if you try to rent it at the last moment possible. We check each vehicle before renting it out since we want to make sure your vehicle is clean and ready to go. We recommend calling a few weeks ahead of time to reserve your vehicle since it’s less stressful. This is especially true when you have a large project to complete, such as moving to a new state.

Pack a Roadtrip Kit

If you have a long trip ahead of you, pack plenty of supplies and food for on the way there. Be sure to pack important emergency items as well, such as a flashlight, extra batteries, bottles of water, and other essential items.

Determine Which Features You Need

Before picking out a rental vehicle, ask our experts for help. We can direct you to the vehicle that you need based on what you’re using it for. Each of our rental vehicles has its own features that may or may not be necessary for your goals. For instance, do you need to haul something large, like yard supplies? Get a vehicle with a larger bed. Or, if you have a long trip planned, rent a truck with air conditioning and a radio to keep you comfortable and entertained. The more perks, the better, as they’ll likely come in handy while you’re headed towards your destination!

Travel Policies

As per insurance policies and other regulations, our rental vehicles have some restrictions regarding where they can be used. Our rental trucks can only be used within the continental United States and Canada. You cannot drive our trucks over the Mexican border, so plan ahead to avoid confronting an issue later on.
